   Cornaceae - Dogwood Family
Trumpet TreeThere are about 100 species of trees and shrubs in this family. They grow in  temperate and warm temperate regions and on tropical mountains.




            dogwoodFlowers in this family usually have four or five petals. Plants include the flowering dogwood, the Japanese laurel and the cornelian cherry. The bunchberry and the northern dwarf cornel are the only herbs in this family. The bunchberry can be found in Asia and from Greenland to Alaska and south as far as Maryland, New Mexico, and California. The Northern dwarf cornel can be found in northern forests.
