New (and Familiar) Faces In Auctionland! We hope you had a great summer! As many of you know, it was a busy time here at NHPTV.
In May our long-time and much esteemed Auction Director Trish Ballantyne agreed to become the new Executive Director of NH Made. While our Auction Operations Coordinator Jennie Allen stayed to help with post-Auction activities, she has since joined Trish at NH Made as their Retail Operations Manager. We are very sad to see this great duo leave, but wish them the very best with their exciting new opportunity.
NHPTV’s commitment to Auction has never waned and with the generous help of Alison Tucker, all stayed on track this summer while a new team was recruited. We are very happy to report that Auction will now be supported full-time by a very familiar face: long-time volunteer and former staff member Jenn Proulx (formerly Jenn Shepherd) began in September as the Auction Operations Coordinator. Her extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of both NHPTV and Auction will help ease transitions and enable Auction to continue seamlessly.
We are also very pleased to share that Judy Pinkham will join the team as Auction Director in mid-October. Judy has experience in both the corporate and non-profit sectors, including the United Way of the Greater Seacoast in Portsmouth where she managed a volunteer staff of fundraisers and was responsible for raising more than $3.5 million for the community from local businesses. Please join us in welcoming Judy to the Auction family.
With our new team in place, Auction is off to a roaring start! Donations are ahead of schedule for our 2011 Online Holiday Auction. The Online Holiday Auction and 2012 Spring Auction will continue with the full support of the station and our crew of dedicated volunteers.
As the new team gears up, your support is crucial. As most are aware, on July 1st, NHPTV lost all its state funding ($2.7 million, or 31% of our annual budget). Many staff positions were eliminated and two long-running programs, NH Outlook and Granite State Challenge, are on hiatus until funding can be secured.
The NHPTV Auction is the station’s largest fundraiser and community event. Auction has always been successful because of our amazing volunteer community. Thank you for all that you continue to contribute as we work together to support the station during these challenging times.
