Healthcare is best likened to a ship without a skipper and a broken rudder! The unbelievable spin inciting fear and utter confusion goes beyond all reason. At the same time I have never heard of one retired person, rich or poor, willing to give up Medicare !!! Now, aint that strange?David, M.D. of 60+ years , Newton, MA
These two (Hodes and Porter) don't get it. It isn't about the current plan because all intelligent Americans know whatever the current plan doesn't necessarily dictate the "future" plan. We don't trust congress, and for good reason. They will say whatever they have to say to get this plan approved now and then tweak it to their liking once it is law and we're stuck with it. The mortgage problems were/are a result of Frank, Dodd and the rest of 'em interfering with markets and now they want us to trust them? No way in hell!

85% of the people in this country are happy with their health care provider. Why not give a voucher to the remaining QUALIFIED (IE US citizens) 15% and let them make the choice.

The "conservatives" out there need to open up their minds a little and at the same time filter out the FUD - Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt - being peddled by the Insurance companies and their political cronies. FUD is an age old political technique in which facts are distorted and outright lies are fabricated in order to scare people so as to defeat the opposition. The insurance companies like things just the way they are - why? Because they make a tremendous amount of money! People don't have a real choice - that is called a monopoly! The reforms being proposed will force choice and the 'public option' will force the private insurance companies to be more competitive. The Republicans are taking sides with the greedy insurance companies. Why? because they are bound and determined to cause Obama and the Democrats to fail any way they can - even if it means damaging the country in the process.

Obama's healthcare reform is nothing but scam anyway. The democrates knows it wont work. They thing they know all. But they are not smart as they think they are.

HealthCare is not a right. When will people take responsibility for their own lives. Accountability does not seem to exist for the government or those taking a handout.

I am understanding of the comments so far in this debate. Those whom are scared to endorse a public option are skeptical as the government has a poor track record on buying toilet seats but reported to have a significant lower costs with management. Anyone who endorses a public option should consider this. If you are comfortable with your insurance, you keep it, If you are not you have somewhere to go.

Healthcare is a basic right that everyone should have access to, not a privilege of wealth or age. Are we really concerned about the cost or politics of this over the well being of another human being? Shameful.

How does the congresswoman think we should pay for the Obama plan, does she know that Medicare is broke and Obama says he is going to take 50 billion out of the system to pay for the new program?

How depressing to read the comments posted so far. No one seems to understand that having FOR PROFIT insurance companies running most health care in the USA is an abomination which no other 'First World' country in the world accepts. I'm 57 without any health insurance. I need a Public Option--or I'd be happy to be able to receive Medicare today.

I have never heard a definitive response from any of the senators or congressmen and women who are trying to sell us on Obamacare, so I'll try right here: Will our illustrious members of Congress, the Senate, and our current President also have their heathcare covered by all that is Obamacare, and if not, why not??? What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

This is just another "scam" to fool the public to pass Obama's healthcare reform bill. He has misrepresented what is in the bill and has allowed Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to railroad us into a program that will not reform healthcare but will take more of our freedoms away - including doctor choice. Will the senate and congressmen's families be included - will they sign up for it? I don't think so.

We do not believe the government can fix Medicare/Medicade finances and add 40 million more people and improve care and cut cost without severe rationing of the care for seniors It is just not believable. Therefore we do not trust AARP who has accepted the plan. The government is lying and AARP is going along to pick up a few dollars in drugs. Once they get rid of specialist like Cardiologists more people will die sooner and that will cut costs. Outrageous!

It is obvious that this Congresswoman either doesn't understand or hasn't read the health care 1000 page proposal. Her rhetoric appears to be just party line. All form no substance!
