Francis Thorne worked as a stock broker,
banker and jazz musician before becoming a composer at age 34. He is a
founding member of the American
Composers Orchestra. Works include: Nocturnes (1963); Fanfare,
Fugue & Funk (1972); Lyric Variations #2 (1975); Third
String Quartet (1975); Flute Sonatina (1962); Symphony No. 5
(1985); and Symphony No. 6 (1992);
