Proteales

   Proteaceae
Pin Cushion Protea Most of the species in this family are trees and shrubs and have clusters of small flowers. The leaves of many plants in this species are thick and have hairs. This helps them retain water in dry climates. Most of these plants are found in Australia, South Africa, and Madagascar. Plants in this family include the silver-tree, the Chilean fire bush, Australian honeysuckles, fire trees, pin cushion protea, and the silky oak.
