Not Home Yet: The NH Guard in Vietnam

Aired Friday, Nov 13, 2009
For veterans of the 3rd Battalion 197th Artillery of the New Hampshire National Guard, 2009 has been a bittersweet year. It is the 40th anniversary of their return from Vietnam after a year fighting in that long and difficult war. It was a war that many had not signed up for. NH Outlook producer Richard Ager has been following the 40th anniversary observances of these veterans and spoke with them at their reunions. The result is a look, 40 years on, of how 500 sons of New Hampshire made it through what many regard as America’s most difficult war. We see the scars they bear, and the pride they carry for their service. And we see how, even now, some are still waiting to be welcomed home. >>
