NH Goes Green; Planning for Environmental Change in Epping; Carbon Coalition
Aired Sunday, Apr 15, 2007
|
The academy-award winning documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" has changed the way many Americans are thinking about climate change. It's also changing what people are doing to stop global warming. This past spring more than 150 New Hampshire towns approved resolutions designed to reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Producer Phil Vaughn shows us how members of the "Carbon Coalition" are showing how to make a difference one person at a time.
Also in this program, the town of Epping is the first in the state to mandate green building standards in new commercial buildings. We'll find out how the ordinance works and talk to a business owner about its impact on the bottom line.
All over New Hampshire efforts are underway to find alternative energy solutions.
Biodiesel is one of those alternatives. We'll see how biodiesel is made and meet the college students who drove cross country in a van powered mostly with vegetable oil.
