Gold For Cash
Amid rising inflation, tight credit and a housing slump, consumers are tapped-out in terms of savings and their ability to borrow. Traditionally as the economy slows, gold prices rise. And, as prices surge so do the number of buyers and sellers. In 2003, gold was selling for $350 an ounce and it's nearly tripled since then. The last time we saw a similar run up in gold prices was back in 1980. As NH Outlook host Beth Carroll reports, the recent spike in prices has people turning to their jewelry boxes to cash in on their old trinkets.

New England Economic Report
A new report is predicting continued hard times for most parts of the region's economy. The forecast by the non-profit New England Economic Partnership says the area economy will experience a slow recovery and growth below the national average for the next five years. Ross Gittell, professor at the Whittemore School of Business & Economics at UNH and the author of the report, spoke with NH Outlook's Richard Ager.
Phoenix Mars Lander
All eyes are on Mars this week! Images are pouring in from the surface of the red planet thanks to NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander. The $420 million spacecraft successfully arrived on the Martian north pole on Sunday and started snapping never-before-seen pictures of Mars. The landing ended a 10-month, 422 million-mile journey to Mars. NASA scientists are hoping to find signs of life on the 90-day mission. Granite State College astronomy instructor John Gianforte talked to NH Outlook's Phil Vaughn about the Mars mission. They met at the UNH Observatory in Durham.
NH Outlook will not be seen Monday, 6/2 and Tuesday, 6/3 to make way for NHPTV's special membership drive. Please watch and pledge your support to help keep programs like NH Outlook going strong. Thank you.
