Women's Leadership Summit
Women make up nearly half the state's workforce, but according to a report by "The NH Women's Policy Institute" they earn 72 cents to a working man's dollar.
Only 15 percent of women in managerial positions reach executive level in NH's publicly held corporations, and only 9 percent ever make it to the top.
What are the underlying reasons for this economic and leadership disparity?
What are the implications for corporate New Hampshire? And what can anyone especially women do about it?
Those were just some of the questions addressed at the first Women's Leadership Summit at
Southern NH University on June 13th.
Billed as "50 speakers, Hundreds of voices, and Thousands of ideas," the daylong event was aimed at arming women and girls with skills needed to become their personal and professional best.
Annabel Beerel, summit organizer and Professor of Social Ethics at Southern New Hampshire University, Katie Merrow, the Executive Director of The NH Women's Policy Institute, and Sara Laschever, a speaker at the summit, and co-author of the book "Women Don't Ask: The High Cost of Avoiding Negotiation and Positive Strategies for Change" join Outlook host Beth Carroll for a lively conversation on the issues.
