Fourteenth Annual Reading Rainbow Contest

A Letter Home

I remember how at home I would get tired of milk and beans.  Now I’d much rather eat those for the rest of my life than choke down the bitter, stale, un-nourishing food we are given for rations.  But you can’t blame the cooks, because they’re lucky if they can borrow a gun to shoot a squirrel.

It is amazing that I have been in the army for a year and I have still not seen a battlefront.  All we do is drill.  At first, it was exciting but now I could do it while sleeping.
