Fourteenth Annual Reading Rainbow Contest

The Trials and Triumphs of Bob

Bob turned his head forward. Too late! Bob should have not looked back at the hunters. He was galloping full speed towards a cliff edge. It was only three feet away and there was no time to stop.

"AHHH," hollered Bob as he flew over the edge of the cliff.

Splash! THUMP! Bob landed right in the middle of the Lamprey River! Coughing and sputtering, he dragged himself onto the shore.

"I'm glad I made it here alive!" he said to himself. "Now for the thing I came for." And he leaned over and took a big bite of grass.

"Ugh!" Bob spit up the clover. "This tastes like dirt. I nearly got killed for clover that tastes like dirt. What an ironic situation I have landed myself in! Oh well, I better head home."

And with that, Bob turned and headed in the direction he had come, the moon shining off his abnormally large eyes.
