Fifteenth Annual Reading Rainbow Contest

Amy Hudson and Her Horse

After lunch Amy's mother said she could go riding. Once she got Pebbles tacked up she led the horse to the outdoor arena, hopped on her back, and walked her for three minutes.

Then she started to do a bouncy sitting trot and decided to practice her jumping skills. She broke into a steady canter, turned toward a line of jumps and gracefully glided over the first one.

The second jump was a challenging one. It was 3.6 feet tall, very tall. As she went over it Pebble's front feet hit the ground and three seconds later Amy's bottom hit the ground, too hard and too tall! She got up, brushed off her pants and got Pebbles.
