The next day, Black Hawk went to her family’s teepee and took the girl to where they had the meeting. He told the little girl that he would not feed her if she did it again and she would be shunned. Even that night she fed the pup, and was shunned. She didn’t eat until the pup died. When Black Hawk told her the news she cried for days. They dug a hole and buried the pup in it.
