Fifteenth Annual Reading Rainbow Contest

Lessons Learned

“Ughhhhh. I bet elephants don’t do chores,” I griped as I yanked on leaves and sent them down to my dad at the base of the tree. “Last one,” I moaned and rolled a leaf off the end of my fingers. The sky was now a sea of apricot and rose hues and the sun drowsily sank beneath the tops of the trees.

I paused only for a moment to enjoy the melancholy of the evening. Then, I quickly scrambled down the tree. At home, I went to my room and suddenly everything was black. When I regained my sight, I was in a different world.
