The next day Ashly came home practically crying. She said, "Mommy, Caroline wasn't at school." Her mom said, "Hush, child, hush."
"No!" screamed Ashly. "She would have called me!" Her mother said, "Calm down, I need to tell you something."
She brought Ashly onto the couch. "Caroline has cancer." she said.
"NO!" screamed Ashly. She ran to her room and wrote in her diary - nothing this bad has ever happened to me since Mom and Dad got divorced.
