A variety of living things is important for Earth's ecosystem, upon which Humans depend for survival. Living things that are nearly extinct are called endangered species and are protected by governments around the world. Here in New Hampshire there are fifteen endangered species. I will tell you about a few of them.
A symbol of freedom, the Bald Eagle is our national bird. Its wingspan is about 8 feet long, and it can live an average of 25 years. A Bald Eagle pair mates for life. It can successfully raise up to two chicks per year in its huge nest, which can weigh up to a ton! |
