One day, Mr. Puer was going to market (Mr. Rudabaga's garden) to get some nutmeg, peas, and a little golden potatoes for supper. He passed the ladder leading up to Miss Puella's window boxes, which he had watered earlier that day, and reached the garden gate. Peering through, he saw the juicy red tomatoes and young tender squash. It made his mouth water.
