When I was a penguin chick, I lost my mother. I heard rumors that my mom was taken away by giant monsters with no feathers. Anyway, I didn’t have a very good upbringing because my dad was always glum. One day I made a difficult decision. I decided to venture into the vast world of the bare-skins to hunt for my mother.
I packed my meager belongings: some fish, my diary, my beloved hat, and one of my mom’s feathers in a shell locket. I said goodbye to my dad and was off! I wiggled my tail feathers in preparation, then dove down into the ocean’s icy depths before popping back to the surface spewing water up into the sunlight. I swam towards the sun, slowly slipping under the water.
