Fourteenth Annual Reading Rainbow Contest

The Quest for My Mother

Mom and I were scooped up.  “Mom,” I screamed, “Jump!”

We waddled through an endless maze of flesh-colored trees.  We heard shouts behind us, but didn’t stop.  Finally, we saw an opening.  It kept opening and shutting and the moving trees kept going through it.  But somehow we managed to escape.  Outside, it was busier, but then a weird flipper picked us up.

“Dooonn’tt woooorrryyy!”

It put us in a damp, dark cave.  We bumped around for a long time.
